Sometime ago, someone in my local sewing community held a Rinata thread spool spree. It was a bargain I couldn’t pass. And that was the backstory of how I added approximately 100 thread spools to my already bursting collection of thread. Now, I basically have them in all colours and shades. Talk about bringing this sewing hobby to a whole new level!
I’ve been using Rinata thread since I started to learn how to sew. They are 100% spun polyester, is extremely durable and doesn’t break easily. It is also extremely affordable at about 60cents per spool at my local haberdashery shop.
So back to the arrival of my huge collection of thread spools neatly packed in plastic bags and sorted by the different colours. For some time, they were just sitting in a corner in my closet but I finally decided I had to do something about them because it was just not conducive having to rummage through every single time I think I could use a new colour.
The thread spool stand mounted on my wall was certainly not an option because there was limited space and I wanted to keep neutral colours that I used the most up on the wall for easy access. Then I contemplated storing them all in a box but felt like it was a waste of space and it’s going to get really messy. I wanted a storage that allows me to see the contents easily, something easy to store and doesn’t take up much space. Importantly, it would be great to be able to sort them by colours as well.
Mason jars was my next bet and in comes these beautiful coffee jars which are transparent, slim, tall and easy for storage. That’s just how much coffee the mister has drank over-time to be able to collect all these bottles. I was just glad we didn’t throw them away because we knew they might come in handy some day.
I would love to hear how you store your thread spools and any tips and tricks you might have. So feel free to share them with me.
