On weeknights when it is too late to play, we read.
On days where we hold parties with the bears, we read.
And when we want to get close to Christ, we read too.
Personally I really like to read, always have been and I have my mum to thank for. And it’s this interest that allows me to know and travel the world through books. It has also helped me greatly in school. In the same vein, I would love to inculcate a love for reading in Junior. And also for him to ‘see the world’ through books and being lost in a whirl of imagination.
Eventually one day, I hope that the 3 of us could hang at a café with a drink and a book in hand.
Meanwhile, here are some titles that are our current favourites. We are now running out of space and need to start thinking of getting a ‘library’ done up soon.
Good Night I Love you
Author and Illustrator – Caroline Jayne Church
This is a light-hearted book to get little tods ready for bed. Text are simple and with repetition, Junior could recite with a little prompt.
That’s Not My Bunny
Author – Fiona Watt
Publisher – Usborne Publishing Ltd
A colourful touch and feely book that is a great hit with little ones. This book definitely help little bubs develop language and sensory skills. One of the many in this series, I am sure your bub will like it as much as mine.
All Creatures Great and Small
Illustrator – Naoko Stoop
A simple story/rhyme about what the Lord God makes. I love the illustration and Junior can resonates with all the creatures in the book. The perfect way to introduce our Lord to the little ones.
Lost and Found
Author – Oliver Jeffers
This is a really heart-warming story about a boy and a penguin. While it can be a little lengthy for younger kids, it teaches them about friendship and about being brave through storms, and dark nights.
Paris: A book about shapes
Author – Ashley Evanson
Hello World is an exciting book series that allows little tods to learn about shapes through sophisticate illustrations of cities all around the world. Paris will always hold a special place in my heart and this is my little way of introducing this special place to Junior.
This is a follow up to this post.
